Abstract: |
Pre-demolition building record of a 1933 'cottage hospital' built to commemorate the fallen of WW1. A large building built from red brick with hipped slate roofs similar in style to the quite plain functional Victorian institutional structures rather than the 'vernacular' cottage style. Extended in 1939 with a new wing and further additions in the 1940s and modern period. Much of the original room layouts (admin. block, casualty, wards, etc) survives and some minor fixtures and fittings, but of no architectural merit. |
