Abstract:		 Archaeological trial trenching (two trenches) was undertaken in the yard area to the rear of 172 - 174 Balham High Road, before the construction of a two-storey retail / residential building. No archaeologically significant finds, features, or deposits were observed. Instead, the area had been truncated when a cinema was constructed on the site in 1911, with the land being subsequently built up using brick rubble when the building was demolished in 1985. This has truncated any earlier archaeological deposits that may have once existed on the site.
