Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation (via monitoring of geotechnical works) was conducted on a new rail track project designed to connect the LTN1 main line to the ESK line at the Ipswich Chord Site. No significant archaeological remains were identified during the monitoring of the trial pits, although our work has recorded the depth at which such remains may be preserved if they are present. Our geoarchaeological study of the site via borehole logs and test pit data has revealed alluvium and peat deposits which retain the potential to contain ecofacts and (potentially) artefacts of cultural heritage interest. |
