Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation and subsequent excavation was carried out on Soutra Hill in advance of an extension to the existing quarry. The excavation concentrated on a small cairn on the summit that contained a cremation burial along with beaker pottery and flint tools. The cairn had also been used as a late medieval beacon stance. The investigations also uncovered a small post-hole circle along with cultivation marks and a sheepfold |
