Abstract: |
archaeological monitoring of a new septic tank outflow pipe trench at Tilbury Fort, along the Inner bank on the south side of the fort from SE of the Officer's Quarters to just SW of the General Artillery Store, a length of 72m. The trench was shallow (0.3m) and only penetrated c.19th century dumped layers. Features included a late-Victorian rubbish pit and the central foundation pier of the Artillery Store. Amidst the later debris, a 17th century hollow cauldron handle was found. |
