Abstract: |
An historic buildings survey and watching brief were carried out during the refurbishment of this picturesque thatched house for use as holiday cottage. The building may have originated in the 17th or 18th century as a single-roomed dwelling, but was extended at some time before 1840. its picturesque qualities were enhanced after rebuilding in the 1870s and the house subsequently became a minor tourist attraction and the subject of a popular song and souvenier ceramics |
