Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken with regard to proposals to redevelop the site of an interwar roadhouse. The public house was built in 1938 and replaced an earlier inn on the site that may have originally have been a farmhouse. The site is a crossroads on the former Stone to Newcastle-under-Lyme road. This is believed to have been the Medieval route between London and Carlisle and may have originated in the Roman period. |
