Abstract:
A Level 2 Historic Building Recording was conducted by GUARD Archaeology Ltd at Coldrach Farm Steading, prior to the conversion of this mid-eighteenth century farmhouse to a residence by the current owner. The building has suffered from vandalism in recent years and will benefit from this proposed refurbishment which aims to retain much of the original architectural detail. The steading comprises three buildings forming a U-shape around a courtyard. At the time of survey, the stone walls were mostly intact, and three exterior walls were harled. The building interiors had been altered during the 20th century, with concrete floors in all buildings, and concrete animal stalls in one building. Earlier alterations include blocked-up windows and doors.
