Abstract: |
In January 2011 NAU Archaeology were commissioned by Brown and Co LLP on behalf of the Mr I.B. Alexander to carry out a Level II historic building survey upon two agricultural buildings and their associated outbuildings at Grange Farm, Pulham Market ahead of works to convert the present structures. The resultant survey identified a threshing barn of mid 19th-century date with attached cattle shelter to the south of a similar date. At the southern end of the farmyard an impressive three storey timber frame structure dating to the 17th century had survived numerous alterations and changes of use but may have served initially as a crop storage barn. A smaller 18th- or 19th-century clay lump livestock shed with later equipment store to one side projected from the western gable of the timber framed barn. |
