Abstract:		 A geophysical (magnetometer) survey covering approximately 3 hectares was carried out in advance of the proposed expansion of Carkin Moor Quarry, Ravensworth. The survey has identified at least two enclosures of unknown date and function. Other more general areas of enhanced magnetic readings suggest that archaeological activity may have been spread over a more extensive area but that ploughing may have degraded these remains.
