Abstract: |
This project is the third phase of geophysical survey of land adjacent to the A1(T) between Dishforth and Barton in North Yorkshire, as part of a larger Stage 3 evaluation in advance of proposed motorway upgrade. One geomagnetic and one electrical resistance survey were undertaken at Catterick Race Course following the appearance of a hole in the north-western corner of the jump track, only 20m from the existing A1 cutting. The hole, c.1m across, exposed the northern side of a circular stone-lined well. The surveys detected a number of features, possibly from a number of periods. |
