Abstract:		 This archaeological desk-based assessment relates to the proposed redevelopment of Swanwick Marina, Southampton, Hampshire. Searches of national and county databases, the study of maps, aerial photographs and written sources, have identified 109 sites of archaeological importance. Adverse impacts have been identified upon eight locally important sites and a further six locally important sites may also be impacted by the proposed redevelopment. Neutral impacts (i.e. a combination of adverse and beneficial affects) have been identified upon Swanwick Conservation Area and six of its listed buildings.
