Abstract:		 A two trench evaluation was carried out on 16 September 2013 on land at the Dale Hotel, Market Place, Allendale, Northumberland. This partly revealed traces of previous garden arrangements of later 19th or early 20th century date. Only a few sherds of pottery and clay pipe stem were recovered from the excavation, but these were not kept for the site archive.
