Abstract:
A former late 19th century purpose built gymnasium was surveyed prior to its conversion into modern dwellings. The building has been unaltered since its construction albiet with the addition of a small toilet block. The interior of the gymnasium invcorporated a spectators gallery accessed by a fine barley twist staircase and heated by a cast-iron fireplace. The building was lit by 18 roof lights. The roof trussess were paired king-post A-frame's bolted and tied with plates and wrought iron collers typical of industrial buildings in the late-Victorian period.
