Abstract:
Discovering Bromborough aims to bring the community of a suburban village together to explore an unknown, incredibly exciting past. The project will see a large series of test-pits dug throughout the historic core of the village, with residents, schools, local societies and people from a range of backgrounds coming together to learn about a unique heritage that belongs to them all. Whilst overseen by heritage professionals, Discovering Bromborough is being led by the community and is indeed the very definition of community archaeology - providing training, learning opportunities, outdoor activities and renewing a sense of community pride in a place that has been affected by empty shops, social deprivation and anti-social behaviour in recent years.
