Abstract: |
A geotechnical investigation was monitored by a PCA archaeologist during the excavation of eight test pits and three boreholes. Natural gravel and brickearth was overlain by 19th and 20th century made ground of up to 2m thickness. it is likely that the construction of the modern bus station on the site had truncated the original surface of the brickearth, but the extent of truncation from the original surface level is unknown. No archaeological features were identified. |
