Three main groups of pottery from Areas 1 and 2 are examined: some Mortlake-style Peterborough Ware and two Later BA groups. Of 10th or 9th century BC are coarseware jars and fineware bowls and cups (Barrett's 'plainware'), associated with pits, hearths, etc in Area l; and of 8th-7th centuries is an assemblage with new forms and fabrics, about half of it decorated, from Area 2. The site has yielded (so far unpublished) pits, huts, and artefacts, and its pottery gains new interest from the Runnymede and Petters Sports Field assemblages.

At least thirty-three inhumations included thirteen pagan Saxon burials, probably of the 7th century with grave goods including iron spearheads, a Panther Cowrie shell and a glass, shell and amethyst necklace. At least six, and possibly ten or more, had been executed probably in the late Saxon period. Report on skeletons. Au(adp F B)

A small but non-selective collection from near Holmbury hill fort included Meso, Neo, and BA material; 90% were of local flint and 4 artefacts were of Portland-type chert. F B

Evaluation of the stratigraphy of some small med and postmed sites indicates the research potential of this area. F B
