Roman panpipes found in London
Henrietta Clare
87 - 92
This paper details the study of these panpipes found on the Thames Exchange site, and draws comparisons with British and continental parallels.
New light on the Claudian invasion of Britain
Nicholas Fuentes
93 - 96
A discussion of the relief from the Temple of Fortune at Praeneste which depicts a Roman galley with its decks crowded with troops. It is thought ascribable to the Battle of Actium in 31~BC, however, the article favours the theory of Poalino Mingazzini who postulates that the scene represents the disembarkation of the Emperor Claudius in Britain AD~43. The author concludes that it is more likely to be Aulus Plautius.

Scadbury Moated Manor: an interim review
Alan Hart
Michael Meekums
Valerie Satterthwaite
97 - 103
A long-term programme whose objectives are to investigate and observe the early history of the settlement and to trace the developments to the final manor house complex. The two areas of excavation were confined to the moated area measuring 51m x 37m; the western moated wall probably dated on excavated evidence alone to the mid-fifteenth century, and the large central cellar with a compatible date. However, there is evidence of a drainage ditch with a possible association with an earlier hall. The brickwork is examined, as are the finds of pottery and animal remains.
