Evaluation prior to construction work revealed evidence for an unexpected prehistoric settlement. Ditches and steep-sided sub-circular pits (probably originally for grain storage) and post-holes, some of which may characterise a round house, were in evidence. Pit backfill included animal bone, burnt clay and daub, and pottery of LBA--IA date. Post-medieval garden features were also in evidence.
