Reports the excavation of an area adjacent to the site of the Globe Theatre, Southwark. Between the late medieval period and the sixteenth-century the area was subject to flooding which deposited layers of alluvium. It is suggested that various attempts to reclaim the land were made during this period. A north-south ditch was discovered dated by pottery to c. 1550--1650, this feature could have possibly formed the eastern boundary of the Globe Theatre's estate. Finds include: a lead token (dated 1625) and a lead alloy mount in the form of a cherub. See also 2002/1102.

309 - 314
Discusses the excavation of a site approximately thirty-five metres west of the River Thames, just to the north of Kingston Bridge. The foundations of at least three post-medieval buildings were discovered. The most significant of these was a substantial brick structure dating from the seventeenth century, with part of the original brick floor in situ and walls surviving to a height of 6.67m OD. Several alterations to the structure are noted including the addition of a buttress during the nineteenth-century. The backfill and cartographic evidence suggest that the building was demolished in the second half of the twentieth century.
