Brings together all known radiocarbon dates for the area (currently 63 in number) calibrated by the author to two sigma. There is some doubt over earlier charcoal samples as they were not species-identified and therefore may encompass examples of long-lived species' heartwood (for instance oak), which would give dates that were much older than their respective sites. There is an appendix providing `Alternate radiocarbon calibration methods' (16--17).

Reports the 1990 survey and three trenches, along with a fourth trench opened in 1994. 1990 work also recorded a scatter of Mesolithic/Neolithic flint, which has not been further investigated. The earthworks remain undated and undiagnosed, despite recourse to earlier investigative evidence.

Reports excavations at this Romano-British site. Three phases of occupation were isolated, beginning in the late-first to early-second century. There is speculation as to its possible identification as Lutudarum. Specialist reports include details of the samian, followed by `Coarse pottery and mortaria' by Anne Anderson & Martin J Dearne (50--7), `The coin' by Wendy Huddle (57) and `Other non-ceramic finds' by Martin J Dearne & Stephen Pierpoint (57--62). There is also a summary of an archive report on `Soil samples' (62--3) by Caroline Watts, with seed identifications by Marijke Van der Veen and lead analyses by G A Wright. A discussion is followed by an appendix giving `Unstratified finds from the vicinity of the excavations' (67--74).

Reports pottery and metalwork found near the summit. It is thought that artefacts from this area may represent ritual activity.

Reports excavations at the site of a postulated house-platform and terraced, banked enclosure uncovered in 1985--86. The area had suffered disturbance due to land clearance and stripping. The final season concentrated on an area known as `The Paddock'. The Romano-British enclosure and related features are described, along with the discovery of a medieval longhouse. Small finds included brooches and glass beads, iron objects, a bone handle and flint scraper, several querns were also recovered. Specialist reports include: the `Grain impression' on a sherd of Derbyshire ware; `BB1 base sherds' by J Samuels (117--19); `Bones' by M Bishop (119 & 20); `The flints' by C R Hart (125--6); `The prehistoric pottery'; `The medieval pottery' by R C Alvey (127--30); and medieval artefacts and other objects.

Evaluation work revealed little of archaeological interest.
