Abstract:
Eleven trenches were excavated over the footprint of a proposed fish lake and fieldwalking and metal-detecting carried out over the extent of the development field. Fieldwork revealed a thin scatter of prehistoric flints over the surface of the field and a scatter of medieval pottery (and three medieval silver coins) at the west end of the field. There was no evidence of Roman activity despite recorded Roman presence nearby. Medieval habitation at the west end of the field, alongside Snakes Lane was indicated. [Au]
