Abstract:
In May 2016 Archaeological Solutions Ltd (AS) carried out a programme of continuous archaeological monitoring and recording at Greenways, New Road, Long Melford, Suffolk CO10 9JY (TL 8596 4529; Figs. 1-2). The archaeological monitoring was undertaken to comply with a condition attached to planning consent for the construction of an extension (Babergh Council Ref. B/15/01267/FHA/LW), based on advice from Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service Conservation Team. The monitoring revealed two large modern pits which would likely have removed archaeological features if present.
