Abstract: |
Cornwall Archaeological Unit was commissioned to undertake an archaeological watching brief during the groundworks for a development at Lower Hugus, Kenwyn. A new small housing development at this location was granted planning permission subject to a number of conditions. No historic assets were identified as located within the site during the 2014 assessment but its historically rural location meant that the survival of subsurface archaeology remained a possibility. The development site is on the south-western periphery of Threemilestone, 4.8km west of Truro. Topographically the site is situated southeast of the crest of a small hill on a south facing slope and was rough grassland prior to the development. One small undiagnostic sub-oval pit was found in the northwestern quadrant of the site. |
