Abstract: |
Cornwall Archaeological Unit (CAU) was commissioned by Cormac Consultancy, CORMAC Solutions Ltd (Cornwall Council) to undertake an archaeological assessment and Historic Impact Assessment (HIA) of Lower Polmassick bridge, near St Ewe, Cornwall (SW 97156 45584) in support of a Listed Building Consent application. The bridge is a Grade II Listed Building (LB number 1312514) which crosses the River Luney. It is a two span arch slatestone masonry structure with a limited capacity that struggles to cope during periods of heavy rainfall. The structural integrity of the bridge is threatened during periods of soil saturation so program's of mitigation works are proposed by Cornwall Council. |
