Abstract: |
Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd conducted an archaeological evaluation at the Old Pike House, Eckington as part of a programme of work carried out as part of a condition placed on outline planning consent for the development of the site for a detached three bedroom residential property. Trial trenching revealed clear archaeological evidence for settlement activity dating to the Roman period, comprising four linear features including a large ditch that contained significant amounts of pottery dated to the mid- 1st to 4th centuries AD. |
