Abstract: |
This report has been produced in response to an archaeological project brief supplied by The National Trust, for a rapid, desk-based assessment in advance of the installation of a biomass boiler and associated infrastructure. Herefordshire Archaeology was requested to undertake this assessment due to the extent of previous fieldwork involvement with the site. The National Trust has two preferred options for the location of the biomass boiler and as a consequence, a series of possible route-ways for the pipe runs. The desk-based assessment is required in order to examine and quantify the likely risk of damage to heritage assets, (both above and below ground), along the course of these suggested routes. After a site inspection and discussions with the Visitor and Commercial Operations Manager, a documentary search was undertaken in order to record any major structural changes which may have occurred within the areas potentially affected by these proposed works.
