Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 9 hectares of agricultural land. The survey has identified a number of enclosures and a possible ring ditch. A number of weaker anomalies possibly relating to further enclosures can also be seen across the site, however these could equally be natural in origin. The detection of former field boundaries, ridge and furrow cultivation, and modern ploughing suggest that the area has been used for agricultural purposes since the medieval period. There is no evidence for archaeological features in the northern area. The remaining anomalies are modern in origin, relating to scattered magnetic debris, ferrous objects, and fencing. |
