Abstract:
Recording was undertaken during the demolition of St Edith's Church, which was of medieval origin but had undergone substantial alterations during the post-medieval period. Discovery of a late Saxon grave slab reinforced the Domesday Book evidence that there was probably an earlier church below the foundations of the medieval church. [Au(adp)]
