Abstract:
Nine areas of recognised archaeological potential were evaluated along the proposed route of motorway development. Surprisingly, very little was identified in Berkshire, Surrey and Greater London. Many deposits had been damaged or destroyed by quarrying, with only prehistoric features being of interest. Prehistoric deposits including worked wood were recovered from and around a palaeochannel at Cambridge Kennels, Spelthorne.[AIP]
