Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during development work on the site which lay in close proximity to the site of the medieval Thirsk Castle, of which only earthworks survived. Piles were being inserted into an area of soft ground that had been identified during a previous evaluation. The watching brief uncovered more of this soft ground, which whilst it contained no archaeological dating evidence, was presumed to be a large moat which had belonged to the castle. [AIP] |
