Abstract: |
The watching brief revealed features and finds relating to the medieval Selby Abbey, these included fragments of limestone wall and pottery. Later deposits were encountered which could have been related to the demolition of the Abbey precinct during the Dissolution, or, as was more likely, the building of The Crescent in the 19th century which also brought about alterations to the street plan of the surrounding area.
