Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment comprising of eleven sample trenches and a watching brief was undertaken ahead of the extension of the gravel quarry at Nosterfield. The area around the quarry had been subject to an archaeological survey which identified three Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age henges and several barrows. Several pits were revealed which had a possible Mesolithic date due to the presence of small flint fragments in their fill. Other features identified as ditches and their terminals were also revealed which indicated the possibility of prehistoric activity in the area. [AIP] |
