Abstract: |
A small trench (c 0.8m x 2.1m) dug in the northern pavement. Path make-up overlay a series of modern service backfills (current and earlier water main plus BT), with parts of a railway sleeper in the fill to the south. In the southeast section and at a depth of c 0.95m (c 2.35m OD) two areas of truncated dark brown organic silt were exposed, and were traced down for a further 250mm to the limit of excavation. |
