Abstract: |
In March of 2016 Pre-Construct Archaeology Limited was commissioned to undertake an archaeological evaluation at the former Battersea Gasholders site located at 101 Prince of Wales Drive, Battersea, London SW8 4BL. This included the excavation of three trenches targeting the areas not previously affected by the four gasholders. Excavation of the three trenches reached the natural sand and gravels, the top of which sloped down from the south towards the River Thames to the north. Sealing these was a subsoil horizon and over this a horticultural/agricultural horizon, both producing finds dated from the 16th to the 19th century. |
