Abstract: |
This report details the results and working methods of an archaeological watching brief that was undertaken on geotechnical investigations at the Former Police Station Site, Half Acre, Brentford, Hounslow, London TW8 8BH. The aim of the project was to establish the sites underlying geology and to discover whether any archaeological remains from the prehistoric or historic periods was present and what impact any post-medieval and modern development had had on any potential earlier archaeological deposits and structures. The watching brief confirmed that the underlying superficial geology consisted of Kempton Park Gravels, overlain in some locations by a very thin layer of brickearth type silt deposit. No significant archaeological feature or materials were observed. |
