Abstract: |
A programme of Historic Building Recording was required by WS Dunsire and Sons Ltd in advance of the partial demolition and refurbishment of Lawfield steadings, Dalkeith (NGR: NT 3560 6550). The works were designed to create a competent record of the historic elements of the steading (i.e. mid-19th century or older) Lawfield before loss. Through the survey it was possible to record the original stone buildings depicted in the 1st edition Ordnance Survey (1894) and later additions. It is suggested that the structural alterations that have occurred represent periods in the late 19th to later 20th century changes as represented in the historic mapping. |
