Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out by CFA Archaelogy in May 2014 to investigate the archaeological significance of a shepherds cairn that lay on the site of a proposed wind farm substation. The site lay in a commercial forest and comprised a collection of random stones standing to about 1m and forming a conical arangement. The stones were removed by hand. A trench measuring 4m x 1m was hand excavated. A surface layer of peat was exposed to a depth of 0.10m which in turm lay on shattered bedrock. No archaeological fetaures or artefacts were found. |
