Abstract: |
The first phase starting in November 2010 and continuing through into 2011 will construct the play park at Hill End and begin removal of shrubs immediately north of the Netherwich Basin. This phase of the development will also be the most intrusive with the play park construction excavating a series of post holes 800mm in diameter and up to a maximum depth of 800mm, the majority of these intrusive holes however will be 500mm in depth. This will be followed by the importing of material to make up levels and create a small play mound in the northeast corner of the play area. Removal of shrubs at the Netherwich Basin will be undertaken to a maximum depth of between 400-500mm dependent on depth of roots and will focus on the earthworks created during the restoration of the canal in the 1980s. The second and third phases will continue with the removal of shrubs and planting of new foliage around the Netherwich Basin and again are limited to maximum depths of between 400-500mm. It is most likely that disturbed deposits will relate to late 20 century. ash from the 19th century onwards, or perhaps expose very small areas of the remains of 19th and 20th century saltworks. |
