Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology carried out an evaluation in order to inform a planning condition associated with the redevelopment of the site for residential purposes. Eight trial pits were excavated, of which two contained features of archaeological interest: a shallow pit containing Late Bronze Age pottery, and an undated gulley. A number of modern (post-1930s) and natural features were recorded in the remaining six trial pits. The site had been much truncated by landscaping and the construction of a swimming pool associated with Red Stacks, the house on the eastern part of the site. It is considered unlikely that any other significant archaeological remains survive. |
