Abstract:		 Wessex Archaeology carried out an evaluation as required by a planning condition attached to permission for the construction of residential flats. Romford Road is known to follow the route of the Roman road from London to Colchester and the site therefore lies in an Area of Archaeological Priority. Two evaluation trenches were excavated, in both of which Modern made ground directly overlay natural gravel. This extensive 20th-century truncation meant that no archaeological deposits were observed, nor were any finds recovered.
