Abstract:		 An archaeological watching brief was carried out at 2-4 Millgate, Selby, during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension. Remains of medieval to modern date were encountered, represented by layers which produced medieval pottery, sealed by a sequence of occupation layers and made ground. This was followed by the construction of a brick outhouse, which was associated with backyard midden material. The outhouse had been demolished before the insertion of modern water pipes and the accumulation of rubble deposits.
