Abstract: |
Northamptonshire Archaeology was commissioned by Andrew Josephs Ltd, on behalf of the developer, Crest Nicholson PLC, to carry out an archaeological trial excavation on land south of Cooper's Lane, Evesham, Worcestershire. Eight trenches were excavated. Trenches 1, 2, 5 and 6 contained Saxo-Norman features. Trench 8 contained post-medieval features. Trenches 3, 4 and 7 contained undated features and/or vegetation disturbance. The development area as a whole contains archaeological features predominantly from the Saxo-Norman period with the main activity occurring in the areas south of Cooper's Lane and south-east of 'The Mansion House'. |
