Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of five 30m x 2m trenches was undertaken on land off Bridle Way in the village of Wragby in Lincolnshire, in order to inform a forthcoming planning application for a residential development. A fieldwalking survey in the vicinity of the site retrieved a scatter of prehistoric struck flint and a quantity of Roman pottery and building material indicative of a nearby settlement. Other archaeological work in the neighbourhood has revealed medieval remains associated with the scheduled manorial manor located on the southern edge of the village. No archaeological deposits or features were identified during the evaluation, and no artefacts were retrieved. The archaeological potential of the site is concluded to be low. |
