Abstract: |
The results of the evaluation confirmed the results of a geophysical survey of the site and demonstrated that it had a low potential for the presence of significant archaeological remains within its boundary. The features encountered included a series of broadly north-east/south-west orientated furrows, the remains of a medieval open field system and features associated with landscaping within the grounds of Thornhill House, which was built in the early 19th century for John Trowel, the Long Eaton mill owner. Areas of modern disturbance and made-ground were recorded across the site. |
