Abstract:		 An archaeological watching brief was undertaken to monitor the ground works during a residential development at Crooked Billet Street Morton near Gainsborough. Although the site is located within the Lower Trent Valley where there is evidence for human activity since the Palaeolithic Period, nothing of archaeological interest was recorded. It was, however, possible to establish that the footprint of the development falls within an area that is largely comprised of a sequence of levelling layers and demolition rubble.
