Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in August 2014 at Sawmills, Ashcombe, Devon. A total of thirteen trenches were excavated. Five undated ditches, predominantly north-east/south-west and north-west/south-east-aligned, were recorded within the site. From their positions and alignments all are thought to represent elements of former field boundaries predating the 1840 Ashcombe tithe map and later OS map editions. Modern plough furrows and field drains were also noted. |
