The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 A geophysical (magnetometer) survey, covering 9.8 hectares, was carried out on land west of Walden Road, Great Chesterford in advance of the determination of a planning application for a proposed residential development. The site lies to the immediate north-east of Chesterford Roman fort. Anomalies caused by soil-filled archaeological ditches forming enclosures and major landscape boundaries have been identified across the site confirming that the site lies within a landscape of high archaeological potential. The features are presumed to be indicative of activity dating from the Iron Age and Roman periods. Therefore, on the basis of the geophysical survey, the archaeological potential within the west of the site is assessed as being high, with a moderate to high potential in the east.
