Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment including an historic building appraisal and monitoring of the excavation of geotechnical pits was undertaken in advance of a proposed development. The Higher Leat flows through the site. The site developed in the 17th century, and was used for industrial purposes, notably dyeing and as an iron foundry. Buildings associated with both the industries survive. Below ground remains of the latter industry have also been identified. |
