Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Oakford Archaeology in January 2015 on land at The Barton Farm, Shillingford Abbot, Devon. The site lies in an area of high archaeological potential in close proximity to a known prehistoric or Romano-British enclosure that has been identified through aerial photography. The work was therefore required by Teignbridge District Council as advised by the Devon County Historic Environment Team. The work comprised the monitoring of 40 augered holes, approximately 0.2m wide and 0.6m deep, for the erection of a three span polytunnel in a field to the north of The Barton Farm. No features, deposits or dating evidence were found to indicate archaeological activity within the area of the polytunnel. |
